| Quote: | I was deeply saddened by the news of Michael Jackson's death yesterday.
Being a rock guitar player growing up during the era of Thriller , My first zen moment with Micheal Jackson happened when he released "Beat it" (Thriller). It included a searing double tapping guitar solo from my eighties heavy metal guitar hero Eddie Van Halen .For the very first time I heard a cultural and musical fusion between African-American dance pop and White heavy metal music. it was totaly addictive and infectious. No longer was it uncool for rockers to listen to Michael Jackson.
Michael Jackson , with that one song ,managed to break so many cultural ,racial and musical boundaries. He was to music what Muhammad Ali was to sports: An African-American icon who transcended race globally. He paved the way for Oprah Winfrey,Tiger Woods and even Barack Obama to become a part of the global human story.
Around the same time in Pakistan, before I was part of Vital Signs and Junoon, all the Lahore cover bands that I played in performed Michael Jackson songs including "We are the world".I remember performing "The way you make me feel" by MJ at Junoon's earliest concerts at the PACC in Karachi to screaming, moon walking, karachi yuppies! Without Michael Jackson Bollywood would never be the same. Many of the jhatkas and thumkas we see in bollywood songs have been plagiarised from Michael Jackson music videos! He transcended race, religion, and region,he was truly a global icon.
Its always sad when a great artist and entertainer like Michael Jackson passes away, but its even more tragic to know that he died just as he was making a comeback .
After all his misery and troubles of recent years,he had come closer to God and most people were cheering him on to reclaim his status as the King of pop.
To God we belong and to Him shall we return, may Allah bless Michael Jackson's soul and provide him the peace that his tormented body , mind and spirit was unable to find on earth.

| Hey auglelita, according to Larry King and CNN more then $350 million dollars, in his lifetime. He has to be in the most charitable artists ever. Also in his will he left 20% of his hundreds of millions of dollars estate to charity. May Allah give him the rest he never had in his life...the greatest entertainer who lived period! |
