"I have not slept in last 30 hours but it does not matter 'cause you guys give me energy" ~Ali Azmat (4/16/05 Houston)

I saw Junoon in Concert in Houston saturday night and I gotta say, this was the best Junoon concert ever. They played for over 2 1/2 hours and the crowd was still thirsty for more. Concert was opened by this upcoming band 'Mauj' and they were not bad at all, their reinvention on old school Zohaib Hassan's 'Jadoo' caught audience's attention and made them cheer for them.

Finally when Junoon came out, crowd went crazy. Finally Houston has found a perfect venue for Junoon's concert, Houston Meridian. It was semi club/sports bar/live performance somewhere in the side of downtown. Just like any other Junoon concert, most of the crowd gathered itself as close to the stage as possible, leaving absolutely no room to stretch. I heard someone say "Oh wow, it smells like Pakistan. Sweat and no deodrant, I love it". Rest of the crowd, which consisted of older aunties and uncles decided to pull up bar stools and stayed as far away as possible scared of being hurt by the "crazy yougsters" dancing insanely with their eyes closed. Some people decided to hit the pool table which I never understood how you can manage while in Junoon's concert. But anyways it seems like everyone found their way of enjoying their concert.

In 2 1/2 hours concert Junoon covered songs from their first debut album to their recent stuff from deewar. Ali did not play anything for Social Circus but did made a mention that the album is out, to which the whole crowd cheered. Traditionally Junoon concluded their concert with Pakistani National anthem which all audience (which consisted of desis, caucasians and african americans) seemed to enjoyed and respected. Crowd hung around after the concert was over in the hope that their favorite band will return untill the bouncers started kicking the fans out.

Please add your opinions if you were there the night on 4/16/05 in Junoon's best concert ever in Houston.
