Globally half of the people infected with HIV are women. She represents the human face of millions like her in Asia Pacific who are infected by their husbands

UNAIDS Pakistan will commemorate World AIDS Day this year with the launch of a new music video on AIDS by Salman Ahmed, renowned Pakistani rock star who was recently appointed UNAIDS Global Goodwill Ambassador. Salman Ahmed, founding member of one of South Asia’s biggest rock bands -- Junoon -- has vowed to assist UNAIDS in its efforts to reverse the spread of HIV by raising awareness through his music and celebrity status. The music video of the song entitled “Al-Vida” depicts the struggle of a woman living with HIV, against stigma and discrimination, for access to anti retroviral treatment and to create awareness about HIV & AIDS. The music video, to be launched in Karachi on 3 December, has been made possible with the financial assistance from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and with the collaboration of Family Health International. This music video will be launched on 3 December at the Marriot Hotel in Karachi at 4 pm. Federal and provincial government officials, diplomats, and representatives from the media, NGOs and young people will attend the ceremony .The director of the music video, Ms. Ruhi Hamid, is a renowned director in the field of social and human rights issues. Her work includes documentaries on people living with HIV and AIDS (Living Positively), life after the tsunami (At the Epicenter), Muslims in America post 9/11 (This is my country too) and the softer and moderate image of Islam (The Rock star & the Mullahs).

Just saw the video. Its AWESOME man!! Salman is looking cool and Nadia Jamil as well. Nice to see Ali Azmat in the launch ceremony. IT will be a BLAST!!

Wow! Great video. It's still downloading but I just saw it on "The Musik". Ruhi Hamid's done it again. Simple video but very strong, and quite appropriate for the song (although I would have pictured it a tad darker). Really highlights the HIV/AIDS issue, and is the first video of it's kind, at least in Pakistan. Love the ending part when Salman throws the shining red cloth off the roof and Nadia catches it. Great acting by Nadia! Video really hits the spot!

Amazing video, zerocool please upload a better quality version with sound and audio as this is too compressed, and doesnt do justice to the songs awesome sound production quality!
